Eight months of ballot counting and recounting, canvassing and county boards, elections and election challenges have come to an end.
On July 7th, the state of Minnesota officially joined the rest of the 50 states as fully represented in the United States Senate as Al Franken was sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden.
Senator Franken takes the reigns of a seat held by Senator Norm Coleman's very capable hands. Throughout his six years in office, and previously as the Mayor of Saint Paul, Coleman was a strong voice for Minnesotans in Washington. He recognized the critical role that business plays in providing jobs and the quality of life we enjoy. The Minnesota Business Leaders Coalition would like to thank Sen. Coleman for his service and wishes him good fortune in all of his future endeavors.
As the Minnesota's second Senator, the business community is eager to work with Senator Franken on a wide range of issues. In tough economic times, businesses can find themselves struggling just to survive. It is imperative that government help their situation and avoid actions that may hurt an economic recovery.
Unfortunately, Senator Franken has taken an anti-business position by co-sponsoring EFCA as his first official act as the State's new Senator. We hope that Senator Franken will reconsider his position when the time comes to vote on the measure.
Accordingly, the Senator needs to hear from his constituents on this important matter. Please click on Take Action on the right to make sure your voice is heard TODAY!
